Mesh node with following options:
By default it gives you a Height map, but you can also apply whatever node you want to the mesh UVs (SVG nodes of PBR maps for example)

That would open up some options. Though you probably wouldn't want to throw high poly/highly tessellated meshes at that node as it would render the small size of substances useless within seconds.
I was about to suggest this, I'm glad I looked first!
