Lasso tool for masking and creating selections for us while painting.
I texture a lot of hard-surface items and the only way for me to get perfectly straight lines and consistent edges is to clean things up in 2D(which means relying on good UVs, which isn't always the case).
Having a lasso tool where you can toggle between soft and hard-lasso would be great, and even the most super basic marquee-tool as rectangle and round would be of help.
so when it will happen? 113 voices((
Would be super nice to have this!

Lasso Masking would be very useful for me
I see this is planned, and that's great. But lines, rectangles, circles, and the rest, both filled and stroked, with the ability to offset strokes for complex line effects, is absolutely essential, and should be standard kit. Painter is so sophisticated and cool, but it misses some obvious stuff, this being the most obvious. Two years on from various forum posts, this shouldn't simply be a flag on a voting page.
cmon, this is must have
Lasso tool options are the single biggest wish list item i can think of at the moment. Adding a Square/circle/free/polygonal would be a game changer for me.
Dear god yes, give geometry decal backface needs a culling option. It's on the brushes, why not here?
The Geometry Decal tool needs a simple checkbox option to make the lasso selector ignore geometry that is currenty obscured. This is a major pain if you're working with models that don't have neatly defined groups for everything. You have to manually single click every triangle since using the lasso tool selects everything all the way through the model.
Ignore backface, or faces on the other side of model is something i would love to have.
would be nice to be able to select stuff in wireframe mode with a lasso tool and also to be able to not select the backface of an object, could be added as an on / off option
Similar to the rectangular selection:
It would be great if you could make a rectangular selection in the UV viewport to create a mask or to move parts of a layer
