Convert fill layer to paint layer
It would be really helpful to be able to add an image into a fill layer and then convert that into a paint layer.
For cleaning up AO as an example, doing this and then using smudge to neaten up issues would be really nifty.

You can add a “Add Paint” filter to achieve this.

You can do it by setting up a top level paint layer and setting all of its channels to "passthrough" https://docs.substance3d.com/spdoc/smudge-tool-143720512.html

As much as I like Painter for years this is another feature I would call "basic" and "essential". I am currently cleaning up normal maps from an asset bought on TurboSquid. They have very bad seams and with a smudge and paint feature on this imported maps this would be done in a few minutes.
Now my approach is to load them into ZBrush and generate a completely new 3D mesh from it, then clean them up and generate a high poly mesh for Painter and Maya.. not the nicest workaround to get really clean (or better invisible) seams.

smudge tool doesn't smudge filled texture . It smudge only that you paint in "Add paint" itself. We need smudge, blur and clone baked texture to fix baking issues!

The smudge tool doesn't work if you do that. Nor does the eraser. We need a real way to convert fill layers to paint layers.
