Vray and Arnold Shader
Vray and Arnold Shader: This would facilitate the workflow a lot.
Because the export of the textures and replace in Arnold or VRay needs a lot of adjustments in the shader itself.
As for Arnold MtoA and SitoA have a fairly open API for extensions, and new shading nodes can be added as plugins to Arnold core so it's in theory very doable. Hard part would probably be to do something that threads effectively as great attention to multi threading efficiency is an important part of how Arnold manages to be so fast.
Please can the API be opened up so that we might add other renderers ourselves? (ie, Houdini's Mantra)
Theres been an upgrade in that you can now choose a preset, but still its a lot of work to set up the network and there's still a lot of tuning and 50% of the work in Painter is lost each time, makes it quite demotivating to work hard in Painter as well as you know that the work will be need to be thrown away once you go into Vray/Arnold. Which this could be made automatic
There has to be a way in simplify the workflow of Painter to well.. ANY 3d production package, then to Arnold or Vray inside of that. This is must! Like movies? we need it. Watch commercials? Here too... Animated shorts? yup. There's more to the CG Industry than the game pipeline.
Going from Painter to Vray can be absolutely tedious; a real shame since Painter is so fun to use
This is absolute crucial if you plan on rendering. It's so much work to go from Painter to a working shader in Arnold right now and most of the time it doesnt at all look like it looked in Painter either :-(
