This is a MUST HAVE feature for those of us who paint all day without saving sometimes. Hey it happens. I can be away from my computer and something happens while I am gone
Band-aid autosave plugin for Windows:
Cannot make and/or test one for Mac or Linux, though, since I don't have access to either of those OS.

No kidding, why is there on auto-save system? This is very very helpful, just as much as it is bad when you loose an hour or two of work for not saving...
As other people said, make it the way it is in Maya, with an additional incremental-save-option!
If you are going to make auto save please make it incremental, which can be very useful if/when a file becomes corupt.
I'm happy to hear that they started :D
Just had a momentary loss of save discipline, and lost a couple hours worth of painter work. Desperately need this, should have been a 1.0 feature
We need auto backup!
My S.Painter just crashed, I just lost 3hr of work... Can someone please help me and tell me where I can find the autosave or back-up folder, I can't find it... thanx a lot
Will this be happening soon? This original post is from a year ago, I still keep losing work because of crashes.
It would be nice if you could have the option as to where the autosaves are located. Be able to adjust how often it autosaves and how many backups you want. Also, sometimes autosaving can be annoying when you're actually in the middle of working. Maybe have it autosave when it's idle for more than 60 seconds.
Yeah, I thought for sure it'd have this with an optional manually configurable number but nope. With how the program keeps crashing and length I'm leaving the program running now and walk away and come back it needs an auto-save, it took forever to complete the main tutorials when I had to go back and recreate lost steps after a crash.
