Smooth Brush when we hold down [Shift]
Smooth Brush when we hold down [Shift] and change hdri rotate to [shift+ctrl] or something
i think this would be e very user friendly feature after you get uset to it because sometimes you want to smudge right after you paint something like in zbrush for example, when vertex painting it became second nature to smooth something instead of switching to the eraser then setting up the eraser to be smooth and pressure sensitive flow

This feature is absolutely NESSESARY.

Needed that badly!!!
I'm voting for this in hopes that proper blending can be done with brushes in painter. It could even be implemented as an improvement to the smudge tool. In any case, we need a way to blend like any proper paint program!
Having a smoothtool in adition to the nudgetool, would raise the bar!
Often, when blurring/smoothing a mask, the blur will go over the edge of the UV island and we get artifacts. A smoothtool would let us smooth in 3d space and the issue would be resolved. Also, It would have many other usecase examples. Like blurring the end of a drawn line, blurring the ends of drawn height-lines and so on and so forth.
Is this suppose to be like a blur/blending brush? If so, sign me up!! But the existing smudge brush is not so good, so if this is just an easy way to switch to smudge brush then, no thanks.
Ya, what a shame, Shift is used for path drawing or linear I guess, but any key would be nice in my thinking, even an icon for smoothing and not just smudging would be an awesome thing. What is this the 2017.1 version and no smoothing icon or function from what I see ( though I am a newbie of sorts, so it maybe my bad), who is the leader of this group, your software is awesome but do not forget about the little things that make your software legendary..lol I love this stuff so do not get me wrong, but some kind of readily available smoothing would be very nice, and I know darn well you guys can do it.. so please make this more intuitive for us beginners.
I was trying to paint a height map just recently, almost felt like sculpting except I kept trying to press shift to "smooth" my height map.... Painter really needs this!

totally agree ...we need this feature
I agree that smooth brush is really necessary! I'm surprised Painter doesn't have something like this already. :o
I totally back this request as the lack of smooth bush has now prevented me to easily achieve the wanted results countless times over my past time with Painter.
As it is, there is no way to perform a simple, efficient and controlled manual gradient between different values in Painter, and the mere use of brush flow is alas not sufficient.
I genuinely find it to be a handicapping ergonomic flaw, and it is a real shame given all the possibilities offered by Painter.
Therefore, I sincerely encourage you to implement this feature, because it may seem trivial, but I (and probably a lot of your customers) can assure you that it is a really comfortable option when it comes to 3D painting/sculpting.
